| Mieke van der Meer After studying at art academy, Mieke began her active existence as an expressive artist; the Baba Jaga centre is how she has chosen to realise her dream. This former school building in Roodeschool, where Mieke lives with her three children, has been painstakingly renovated over several years to become a centre for personal growth and inspiration; Baba Jaga. During 1999 - 2001 Mieke undertook training at the School for Shamanism. As well as learning healing skills, she is also trained as a vision quest leader. More recently she has been developing her ongoing learning under the guiding wisdom of established teachers, Ron Evans (Canadian Native Elder), and Wai Turoa Morgan (Maori Elder). She was deeply influenced by Norma Panduro, whom she met in 2007, as well as Concha Garcia and Randy from New Mexico, who brought the traditional Huichol and N.A.C ceremonies to Baba Jaga. From these awakenings, Mieke feels a profound call and longing to keep these traditional ceremonies alive for our future generations! Mieke organises workshops with teachers from several national and international traditions as well as running regular sweat-lodges at the Baba Jaga centre. Mieke; Nature is my greatest teacher. I live my dream and form these in my centre Baba Jaga. In contact with my spirit, and the teachings of amazing teachers, I enjoy to share this wisdom. | |
